Gurus, I just checked "Breaking News" on http://www.immigration-law.com, found out that VSC reports shows different face time,
it used to have two parts ( " processing for initial receipt date " and " receipt processing times( in days) From and To" ), for 485,
in last report( as of 07/30/01), it said processing 10/01 and takes between 360 and 540 days.

But this latest report(as of 09/24/01) has two parts, the first part" currently working" , the second part becomes " target date",
for 485, it is " currently working on 11/15/00 " and "target date 03/28/01 " .

Anybody knows what target date means ? does it mean their goal is getting to these cases very soon ?
this really supprised/confused me. anyone have comments on this?

My 2 cents.......This means VSC is lagging behind by 4 months.........

Ideally VSC is supposed to process cases with ND 3/28/01 now, BUT,
they are working on cases with ND 11/15/00.
(Also an observation, 9/28/01 - 3/28/01 = 6 months. Any thoughts
 on this)

Regards

So you mean VSC is setting 6 months as the normal time-frame for processing 485 from now on ?

I think this should still be considered a good news, at least they show they have intention to process it within 6 months which is
New commissioner and new president\'s goal.

Without FP what is the point?

They stil have not issued FP to all the March/April cases. So, 03/28 is just a wish. Anybody called INS or lawyers regarding what is going on with FP? Please share any info regarding this

that\'s exactly how they control the work load.

by not sending FP , they know they only have up to March 2001 cases to process, until they process these case out first, there is little hope we could see our FP .

Now it seems no service center( includes fastest CSC ) is sending FP for applicants filed after April , I guess this is a universal strategy that INS is playing now.

FOr us recent filers, we are unlucky , we just have to blame our bad luck .

i think it means all 11/15/00 cases should be adjucated till 03/28/01
which is the target date to meet 11/15 cases

I doubt that is true.. we have been seeing a good number of December cases here. Of course, we will have to wait to hear from some lawyers from AILA or INS to describe this. But compared to a couple of months back, I am sure the situation looks much better now. So, let\'s be optimistic.

I agree with VSc-sufferer

Two explanations:
1) VSC was supposed to be processing target 3/28/01 but presently processing 11/15/00 - They admit that they are lagging by 5-6 months.

or

2) VSC is presently processing 11/15/00 . Their target by end of this year 12/31/01 is to process upto 3/28/01 cases. They have to process 4 months cases in next 3 months.

My guess..

I think if the priority dates retrogres then it may be to the point to April 2001 filers priority dates.

Makes sense... But I didn\'t know that INS was serious about the 6 month processing. Hope that is in back of their mind always!

target date?

I just hope that somebody is working hard (in parallel) to process the old cases from \'99 \'00 instead of thinking how far they can go with \'01.

an endless game

We should realize the INS processing report is meaningless since it only reports the processing up to certain date. Even they announced they are processing up to Nov 15 now, God knows how many cases are left behind.

I do think this NEW " target date " should have some significance to us.

Otherwise , why doesn\'t VSC keep the old report format using that old crap " from 360 days to 540 days" which we hear everyday on AVM ?
does VSC want to embarrass itself by post a " target date" which they couldn\'t reach ?

I do think we should see this as a positive sign.

As for recent days we have seen a lot Dec 2000 approvals, I think it\'s because they are trying to use up all quotas for fiscal year 2001 , since from next week would be using 2002 quota.
