Current is EAD expiring 5/5. Completely forgot until 4/12.
Paper application sent by UPS 2nd day air on 4/13.
Received receipt 4/19 and approved yesterday 5/1. (card ordered as per online update and e-mail).

Did enclose color copies of DLR and passport biographic page as well as approval notice from past EAD AND mailer from past EAD and support letter from employer. Was a a complete and comprehensive application done without attorney help (because going thru attorney would have taken longer time) and using instructions and cover letter format in this forum. (Thanks !)

Wrote name and A# on all documents and copies and back-of-photos in pencil.

Hi

What is DLR? Also can you post the cover letter and instructions?

Thanks

I think his mean of DLR is DL=Driving Licence.

Yes. Please! It will be helpful for us to renewal our EADs.
Advance Thanks!

Yes, DLR is driving lisence front and back is what I meant. Also color copy of expiring EAD front and back I enclosed.

Cover letter I sent is same format as is in the sticky of this forum (posted by JoyD). Link below (if it works):

http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=137247

BTW got EAD card in the mail yesterday too!

And not sure if thats normal, but my LUD did not change for 485 on account of this approval.

Make sure to write lightly in pencil, your A# and name on all documents, photos, attachments.

Good Luck!

Your 485 LUD doesn't change with EAD approval. I am not sure from where you got that info but its wrong.

Ap

What abut the AP? Had you also filed the AP renewal?

How long does it take to get the AP renewal from VSC now a days?

Thanks

Hi GCWantedASAP001,

Was this your first extension for the EAD document ??? Please confirm !!!
Usually the first and second extension on EAD , doesn't take too long to get aproval , but once you get to the third extension , i recommend you to do your aplication at least 90 days before expire the previous EAD , because the processing time will be a lot longer than before !!!
This is a recommendation for everybody who aplly for the 3rd extension , even second extension , do your part on time , so you do not have any headaches later !!!

Congratulation on your aproval !!!

I have applied for EAD and AP renewals early March with RD of March 9th. Haven't herad anything yet

After this posts by you , i want to believe that doesn't matter what office you apply , but is recommended to everybody to apply for EXT of EAD at least 90 days before expire , so you'll be sure that you'll get your EAD on time !!! Nothing is certain anymore today !!! They say 30 to 90 days for processing , when i've called USCIS , for enquiry about , they told me that will take longer , and i've told them that will pass the time for processing posted , and the next day i found out that my application was aproved !!! I don't know what to believe about these guys anymore , what they are doing there ???

I was just refuting what you said earlier that the 1st and 2nd EADs get approved faster than the latter ones. I never tell anyone when to file EAD. Everyone in this forum is mature enough to figure out that for themselves.

Hi there ,
I've understood your point , even my aplications were aproved faster before , and very slow now for the last one , but my point was that , you cannot believe anymore what these guys are doing there with the processing times , and is better to make sure that everybody will be safe by making the EXT application on time !!!

You are perfectly right. We can never trust these guys with any dates they give. My third extension almost gave me a scare even though i filed in well before it took me 82 days to get the approval and I was sh****ng bricks as I have an approved I-140 and did not apply for H1 extension.

Better early than be late.

For the person who asked, this was my second EAD renewal. And I filed so late only because I forgot. If I had remembered earlier, I too would surely have filed 90 days in advance which I am intending to do for 3rd EAD renewal (if GC is not approved by then).

Also, my AP is expiring later - June only and I dont need to panic about that since I have H1 as backup for emergency travel. So I filed that seperately last week thru attorney. Will update if and when that gets approved.

EAD renewal Approved in 2 weeks!

Hi,

My EAD also approved in just 2 weeks! (VSC). THis is my 3rd Renewal.
One way I am happy, but otherway, I lose 2 months becos they issue new card from the date of approval. Not from my previous card Expiration date.

Please update once you receive your EAD cards...

Dear gcma_2005,

Oflate I have heard people being issued EADs with the validity date from the expiration of the earlier one. I read about it in the I-485 VSC fourm. Could you please publish the validity start date once you receive your card/s.

My EAD expires in Oct. 06 and want to apply in July to be safe.... I too am concerned of loosing the remaining time on the current EAD.

TIA.

That might not be altogether true. My First EAD renewal followed that rule and so did the AP but for my second one they just gave the Date of Approval as the date from which it is valid, I ended up losing some time but still better because then you are not taking chances with INS
