volunteering on H4 visa

I am currently a H4 visa holder. I just received a job offer. I understand that I must obtain a H1 visa before I can start working. Is it true that it will take 2 months to process? is there any way to make it faster? Can I work as a volunteer(without any compensation) in that company while I am waiting for my working permit (H1)?

U can do Premium Processing which take about 2 weeks!

It costs an additional $1000, but worth it if u really need it fast!

Thank you for answering to me. But question also is if this volunteering job for the same company that going to make H1 visa for me put in jeopardy my status in US. Could those people in INS think I can not volunteer because I can benefit by this volunteering?
