vistor visa for UK student

Hi there,

My bf is a student in UK & he applied for vistor visa last year but it was denied for not having sufficient funds. He is gonna apply for it again but how much money does he need to show in order to get visa?
 
There is no magic number. However, in addition to a return ticket, a visitor should have at least $100 for each day he/she intends to be in the US as a visitor. This is my opinion only.
