visitors visa question to the US from Canada

Can someone tell me if a non Canadian citizen from another country who is living and working in Canada under a work visa can travel to the US to visit relatives.. How hard is it to get a B visa tourist.. is that the right visa to apply for,, and how hard will it be to get the visa..
 
Travel to US for visiting relatives is possible. A B2 visa is needed and the person can apply for it at the nearest US consulate in Canada. He will have to prove that he has compelling reasons not to remain in the US beyond the period required for visiting.
