My parents visitor's visa interview was successful. They got the visa.

Here are the questions from the interview:
1) Who lives in US?
Ans - My son
2) What does he do?
Ans - XXXXX
3) How many children do you have?
Ans - XXXXX
4) What was your profession (my father's) before retiring?
Ans - XXXXX

That's it. They were told to expect the passport mailed to the house in a few days.

One interesting aspect of the process though - my mother's DOB was incorrect in the DS-156. We realized the fact, but could not correct the entry as it was disabled in the online entry form. We called VFS, who sought to the easiest answer (for them) - "cannot change items 1-15 after the fact. Please cancel the appointment and fill DS-156 correctly". I thought - why the hell do you all work if you cannot correct simple issues such as these. Why in the first place not allow users modify information that is their own. Too much conservatism.

Anyways, I filled a DS-156 that's available on www.us.gov site and asked my parents to carry the corrected form along with the incorrect one.

Expectedly, the data entry person at the consulate pointed out the mistake in DOB in DS-156 form. My parents explained to him how they tried to correct the mistake but failed. When they were ready to give him the corrected form, he kindly changed the DOB on the printed form (with a pen) and in the computer. So, that worked out well. My parents were not asked anything about the correction, during the interview.

Hope this incident will help others who might be facing a similar issue with disabled fields.

Post your questions and I will try to answer them in the best knowledge.

Good luck.
