Visitor's Visa Extension for parents

Hello,
My parents are visiting us(10 yr multiple visa) and they got entry for 6 months. We are planning to extend their visit for another 3 1/2 months,
they have about 7 weeks left on I-94.
Please help me with the following questions on extension of visitor's visa

1) The form asks for proof of return - my parents have a confirmed two-way ticket , travel agent told them that they can postpone their ticket (with a
penalty) if they want to. Should I take copies of the existing tickets with current return date and send as proof ?
Or
are we supposed to postpone the ticket assuming they have got an extension and send it with the extension form? - how long does it take

2) Please let me know if there is a sample / format for the letter stating the reason why stay is being extended.

3) Alongwith Form I-539, seems like we need to again send I134 , would this require paystubs, bank statements etc?
is there any other documentation needed?

1). I got my parents tickets extended (100$ penalty per tix for Singapore Airlines) and sent a copy of the new ticket. I did not send the old ticket.

3). This is what I included in the app
1. Copies of I-94
2. Copies of Return Tickets
3. Copies of Passport.
4. Bank Account Verification Letter.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm writing to you regarding the extension of stay of my <parents/in-laws> who are currently visiting us on a B-2 visitor visa. Their current I-94 allows them to stay until <Month-Date, 2005>. However, we would like to extend their stay in the USA until <Month-Date 2005>, due to the following reasons:
1. My <father/mother/in-law> came down with a <medical condition> after <he/she> arrived here. This pretty much put our plans on visiting places on hold until <he/she> recovered.
2. As they are getting old they may not be able to visit us again, so I would like to extend this visit and show them all the wonderful locations in the USA they haven't visited yet.
3. If their extension of stay is approved, we are planning to take them to <xxx,yyy, and zzz>.

During the extended stay, they will continue to stay at my residence in <Some City, State> and I shall be providing all the financial support during that time. Please find enclosed the following documents:

1. Copies of I-94
2. Copies of Return Tickets
3. Copies of Passport.
4. Bank Account Verification Letter.

Please note that my <parents/in-laws> have no intentions of staying here permanently. They are Indian Citizens and hence no issues in returning back to India after their stay. They'll return back to their home in India whose address is: < India Address>

I would really appreciate if you can approve their extension of stay and provide us with an updated I-94. Please do not hesitate to call me at (xxx) xxx xxxx if you've any questions.

Thanks so much for your response.
After reading the info. you provided, it seems like we do not need to provide Form I134 - Is that correct? Heard from someone that we may need to send I134 too alongwith I539.
Please let me know.

I did not send I-134 and got the extension approved. Infact after applying for extension I started reading this newsgroup and like u I too read a post where someone said they included I-134 also. So if you want to play it safe just send I-134.

Thank you for sharing your experience in extending B2 visa. I am preparing B2 visa for my mother and find your message really beneficial.
I do have some questions that I hope you can help me with.
1. Do you file electronically or not? If you do file electronically how did you submit your supporting documents?
2. How long did it take from submitting the form until you get an approval?
3. Which INS did you submit your application to?

I have a question regarding te documents that I need to send with I-539. Do we have to send the copies of the return tickets dated before the I-94 expiration date or after the expiration date of I-94?
