Hi,

My parents have their GC, but they cannot travel to US every year nor stay in US for long period of time, so they want to give up their GC. But if they want to visit US after a few years what are the chances of getting Visitor's visa after giving up GC?

Thanks.....

they can get an reentry permit for 2 yrs. that way atleast they wont need to worry for next 2 yrs. After taht they can renew it again...

If they have totally abandoned the idea of maintaining the GC, then surely can apply for visitors visa..

goodluck

How long did they live here ?
Does their home country have rules on dual citizenship ?
Are there any tax related issues keeping them from becoming citizens ?

At some point, getting naturalized might be easier than renewing re-entry permits.

There are many people around the globe who have a GC and a mailbox in the US.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply...
-No, they havent lived here for very long, nor do they have tax records. They have just visited me 2 times and not worked in US.
-No, they dont have US citizenship, and they will not go for citizenship also.
-They got re-entry permit once and i guess they cannot get that everytime.

So they are worried that if they do want to visit me in the future will they have issues for getting visitor's visa?
