Hello,

Here is my case:

My mother's visa got rejected last week under Section 214(b).

Questions Visa Officer asked my mother:

How many children do you have?
Ans: 3
Does your son have a Green card?
Ans: No
Are you a widow?
Ans: Yes

They did not ask for any other documents.

Family Background:
She is a widow and I am her only son. My two sisters are married and back in India .

My younger sister family stays with my mother.

My GC is under process.

My Questions:

Is it risky to re-appear immediately without any change in the status?

According to the us consulate website she can re-apply after 3 business days of her first appointment.

But is it good to wait for couple of moths so that she can apply again?

Is it really worth getting a letter from a local Senator?

Or would there be any possibility of getting a visitor visa after getting my green card?

I would appreciate your help.
Please advice me how to proceed further.

Sorry to say this, but your mother's chances of a visitor visa will diminish even further after you get your GC. From the consul's point of view, your mother is a prime candidate for overstaying her visa and later adjusting status. She is a widow and her only son lives in the US. According to the consul, that is where she failed to overcome 214(b). I am, afraid, your local senator or representative will not be able to help.
