Visitor Visa question for sister's family

Hello,

I want my sister and her family to visit us this summer, so I sent them the sponsor letter as well as the invitation letters and other relevant documents (tax returns, pay checks, bank balance etc)

My sister says that they talked to an agent and they were told it would be better if only she and her husband go for visa and leave the child in our home country so that it would be easier to get visitor visa.

I don't understand why? If they are coming for a visit and on a vacation, don't we want the whole family to visit. Just wondering... has anyone else gone through a similar scenario?

The family should apply as a unit and there should be no need for any sponsor letters since B-2 visas are self-sponsored.

If they are coming for a visit and on a vacation, don't we want the whole family to visit. Just wondering... has anyone else gone through a similar scenario?

Visa Denied

My sister's family went for visa today and were denied visa.

They asked 2 questions. Who is in US and what he(me) does in US and then they said apply after 2 months

I think it all depends on how the person presents himself and his/her family. Well, whatever happens there is a reason for that

My commiserations.

My sister's family went for visa today and were denied visa.

I would disagree with that. Talking to a few consuls over the years, I know for a fact that for 95% of the B-1/B-2 cases, the consul has already made a decision just by looking at the DS-156. This is before the applicant gets to the interview window. Consuls have 45-60 seconds on average to decide on a DS-156.

I think it all depends on how the person presents himself and his/her family.
