Visitor visa for sister, her family GC petition already filed

Hi,

I've filed for my sister's GC on behalf of family visa. I applied in 2003, so it'll take about another 10yrs before it becomes current.

Can she apply for a visitor visa and visit us for a few months ? Are there any problems in applying for the visitor visa ? Any gotchas we should be aware of. Has anyone done it and successfully got the visitor visa ?

A visitor needs to demonstrate non-immigrant intent. Having a pending immigration pettion effectively shuts off the non-immigrant intention. I am not aware of any cases where people were able to secure visitor visas with a pending immigrant petition.
