Visitor Visa for my parents

I would like to invite my parents to visit me in the US this year as follows. My father will come earlier say around March 2005 time frame. He will probably stay for 2-3 weeks and return. Later on I want my parents (father and mother) to come here in October 2005

I'd like my parents to go for the visitor visa in Jan-Feb itself. If they get the Visa is there any mandatory rule that they both need to visit the US within 6 months of visa approval? Since my mom is not planning to visit till Oct will that be a problem?

Please adwise. Any help is appreciated.

It is not mandatory

It is not mandatory for them to visit US togather.

But what will happen if they get visa for 6 months only. If they are applying in Jan there visa will expire in Sep.

It depends on visa officer for how much duration he grants the visa. This may vary from a month to 10 Years.
