Visitor Visa Extension

Hello All,

My mother has been here in the US with me and we recently applied for her visitor visa extension. The cheques we sent her have been cashed a month back, but we have not received any receipt so far and the EAC number on the back of the cheque does not seem to fetch any information on the online system. Has anyone experienced this? Will it be ok to call an IO regarding my mom's case? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

The California Service Center is currently processing cases submitted in April 2008. Once your processing time is current you should call them and find out whats the holdup. Also, keep in mind that extensions are for emergencies and if your extension is denied and your mother stayed beyond the date on the I-94, her visa becomes automatically invalid and she might have a hard time obtaining a new visa or entering the US.

thanks for your response. If my mother leaves the US before a decision is made, even then will her visa be deemed cancelled? She is planning to leave in mid-January 09 and we applied for her three year extension.

I do see the cheques have been cleared and that shows some hope. But the receipt has not reached us and nor the EAC number on the back of the cheque is working. Is it safe to call USCIS with regards to an extension request?

3 years? Thats not visiting, thats living her. So that extension will be denied for sure. As long she leaves before her I-94 is up, she will not lose the visa.

sorry, that was a typo. We applied for a 3 month extension. The cheque has been cashed and an EAC number has been allocated. I am hoping that this is some good news. But, I have not gotten the Notice Of Action receipt after a month since the cheque has been cashed and the eac number does not work online.

Extension for Visitor Visa B1/B2

Hi everyone,

Vermont is known as the fastest operating office for any visa application. I am trying to apply for I 539 extenson for visa stay. Would it make a difference if use a friend's address who actually lives in Vermont than listing my address in New York? Will this make the process time faster?

So you are ready to knowingly false information (wrong address, pretending to live in a different state) to a federal agency for faster processing? Is there a chance its faster? Yes. But also there is a very good likelihood that the outcome will not be what you are looking for (deportation, banned for life for immigration fraud, and so on).
