Hi

I need to apply for a visitor visa for my in-laws.
Can there be a gap of like 4 months between the time when they apply for a visa and when they actually travel ?

Firstly you cannot apply for your in-laws' B-2 visas. They will apply on their own. Secondly, yes there can be a 4 month gap between visa issuance and visa usage.

Yes, there can be a gap. But you should mention actual travel date in your invitation letter and they should have that in their planned itinerary, so that visa is valid till then.
