Hi,
Does a person with 485 pending need visa to visit Canada for a few days? I know that GC holder doesn't need a visa.

Pls. clarify.

Thx.

Yes, a visitor visa is required. Usually it is no problem to get one. In LA it takes just a couple of hours (arrive early, though, at least 30 minutes before the consulate opens).

Do not forget a U.S. re-entry document.

AP

Please do not forget that you need Advanced Parole to leave the country if you have 485 application pending. Otherwise you are considered to have abandoned your application.

if you are going for a few days.. i believe it is less than a month, you donot have to surrender your i94 at the airline counter. when returning at the toronto airport, since you have a valid i94, you will have an easier time.

So the procedure is to go to Canadian Consulate in person to get the Visa stamped? We have a valid AP which should be enough I guess. But what's US reentry permit? I thought Advance Parole is enough to reenter.

Look up the information on a site of appropriate canadian consulate. Perhaps, you may not need to show up in person, just send your passports in mail for stamping. It will take a couple of weeks, though. On the other hand, showing up in person will get you a visa on the same day.

That's the one. You need nothing beyond that.
