A Friend Of Mine Is Gc. He Tried Several Times To Invite His Mother To Come To Visit Him. However, His Mother's Visa Applications Always Been Denied. Anyone Knows If Asylee's Relatives Could Get A Temporary Visa To Come To The U.s.?

Yes, my parents are regular visitors to the US, but they still work and US Embassy is very thorough in making sure you won't stay in the US for economical reasons and illegally. I've heard a story not so long ago when someone's mother, having visited the US 8 times previously, was refused a visitors visa recently. And this happened after she retired.

Obtaining a Visitor visa for US in 3rd world countries is usually considered a miracle nowadays. It depends on what is going through the visa officer's mind that time. It is totally un-predictable. So just give it a try but don't miss out anything in application. They don't care and would refuse your visa and put a stamp in your passport. Then it becomes a hell to obtain visa again after refusal.

I heard another story when they denied visa to a professor from Moscow university who has visited U.S. with lectures several times and was going to teach for a month again. And he was denied. I am just thinking how stupid they are. Even if he had an intent to stay in the country, which he hadn't BTW, the U.S. government should be more than happy to have such a bright person in the country; he has so many ideas in his head!!! It's just ridiculous!

My wife's mom was allowed to visit us here, when my wife was pregnant. It looks like it does not matter if you are asylee or green card holder, but what matters is that you have abilities to support your visitor here: house with extra room, medical, savings. They also look that the invitee has assets and job in home country.

But again, it's is hard to tell, as in lots of cases it just depends on the mood of the council.
