visit visa to permanent residence

dear folks,

my parents are here in the USA on visit visa (they have 10 year multiple).
i am a US citizen and would like them to live with me for longer period.

do i just need to fill out form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status)? or are there multiple forms required?

anyone know how long will this procedure take as after 4 months my parents will have to leave the united states as they are on visit visa.

please advise. thanks much!

yeah, by longer i mean permanently.

also, if they have 10 year visit visa, can they leave the country after 6 months and come back and continue this process?
