Visit Visa approved but Delay in issuing Visa

Hi All,

Here is a situation; My dad had visa interview mid May. Interview was successful, and he was told that his visa application is approved, and he will get the passport back in two to three weeks.

He has not gotten any response from the embassy in Islamabad yet. Is it an administrative delay or what? should we contact the embassy, or do we wait for their response first?

Any suggestions or any similar experiences? What should he do?

Parents of my friend give interview 3 years back. They said the same thing and its been 3 years now they are not returning the passport. they give visa to the mother but not to the father. Repeated queries with congressmen revelaed that issuance of the visa is pending here in state department possibly with the name check or some other security clearance.
I hope that this will not be your case. Call them and find it out.

My mom got her visa but my dad's still pending. They went for the interview 5 months ago. When they did not return the passport for 3 months,w e called the consulate and emailed them repititively, so they mailed the passport back but said there is pending process that is not completed yet, so they cant issue a visa yet. They gave us a link to check on chennai consulate's website, so we are traking it that way, But for the past 5 months it hasnt been changed.
