visit India with only stamp on PP

Hi,
Today i talked to the consulate and they told me they have received my case and my probable date of interview will be in Sep04.
becoz of some family function i'll have to visit india again in nov. before getting my physical card.My wife will come back with me in NOV.

Can anyone please tell me what are the steps involved in travelling internationally with only the stamp on the passport( i dont know whether the stamp we get on POE is temporary or is permanent :confused: )and what all papers do i need to carry with me while i again visit India which will be checked while entering INDIA and then While coming back to US again.

Please shed some light if anyone knows anything.

Don't worry, I came from India with only Stamp on my & my families passport.

In Mumbai, Immigration officer are aware of such stamps. He will ask you for the physical card. Just tell them, It has been ordered and not yet received.

At POE, Your A# will tell everyting about you to Immigration officer.

Just for precaution purpose you may carry the all the relevent paper to your case. But I am sure no one will ask for it.

This should be pretty straight forward as the above post is describing. I would not worry much.

If your timing is right, then you might get your plastic before you go in Nov.

Can you let me know what phone no you tried to reach the Mumbai Consulate and during what time frame? I am trying to find out my approximate interview date(expecting in Sept/Oct).
