Hi there. I'm pretty new to all this and just have a couple of pretty basic questions relating to visa waivers and extended holiday visa's (B-2).
First of all, just to fill you in on the background. I am an English citizen and have lived in England all my life. At the end of last year, an old school friend got in touch with me and I went to visit her in the USA. I stayed there for just under 4 weeks from middle of Feb to the middle of March and I stayed on the visa waiver which I filled in on the plane on the way over.
I have recently got back from visiting her again for 2 weeks at the beginning of June. This time I filled in the Visa waiver form on the ESTA web site. I was sent an e-mail saying my Visa Waiver had been approved and that it was valid until Aprl 2011. I'm now thinking of going out for a longer visit, maybe as soon as August/September. I understand or at least have been told, there is a visit limit of up to 90 days in a 180 day period. Now, does this period start from when I first visited or upon the 2nd visit when I applied on-line with ESTA? I'm just trying to work out when would be the best time to visit to get the optimum 90 day visit allowance.
The other option I'm looking at is getting the extended holdiday visa (B-2) which I understand I have to apply for and visit the USA embassy in London. I have a couple of question regarding this. Firstly, if I do manage to have the Visa approved, is it possible to enter and re-enter the USA during its duration (I.e. would I be able to come back to the UK and go back again?). Secondly, is this something I could apply for while on holiday in the States on my ESTA visa waiver and just add it on to the 90 day visit?
Finally, will me applying for an extended holiday visa have any bearing on applying for future visas?
many thanks in advance. Sorry if these questions have been answered elsewhere but I'm still reading so much stuff on here.
