visa validity

cancellation of previous h1b effects any thing on the validity of
of visa stamp. ex. if the visa is valid till oct 2003 and h1b
is cancelled by prevous employer in 2002. I got a new
h1b (I-797)from current employer valid upto oct 2003. can I still use the old visa for travelling abroad and reenter united states.

Actually you will be using the new approval to enter US. The old cancelled/expired visa shows that you have undergone consular processing at least once in your H1 lifetime and per DOS policy renewal is not mandatory.

thanks jaxen, that means I can use old visa and new i-797 to
enter united states. even the prior (old) h1b is cancelled
