Visa Transfer

Hi,
My I-94 and petition is expiring on 10/17/2005. My existing company has filed for an extension just a few days back. Now I got an offer from another company and they are asking me to join them on 12/05/2005. But by then the extension approval might not come. So the new company has asked me to initiate the transfer now itself, before the expiry date of 10/17/2005. Now I have a few questions:
1) What I need to be aware of in a situation like this? What are the things that might go wrong?
2) Will I have a valid status because my visa transfer would probably be approved before 12/05/2005 itself? I would then still be working with my old company.
3) If I decide not to go to the new company, can I still do that without again going through a visa transfer?

Thanks in advance

---------- better to wait for H1 extension to be approved once H1 extension is approved you will get new I-94 attached and then let the new employer file H1 transfer and join once get H1 transfer filing reciept from USCIS. for more info talk to your lawyer
