I have 7th year and 8th year extension approval notices. The current visa in my passport is till April 2003. I got 7th yr extension till apr 2004 and 8th yr approval till apr 2005.

I want to travel to India. In order to get the H1 stamp in my passport in order to re-enter the US, I will have to go to the US consulate for stamping.

Has anyone been through this situation? What documents are required ? Is the electronic DS 156 required ??

---- if your Visa stamp is NOT expired more than 1 year you can send your passport to US for Visa revalidation? send it before you hit 1 year of Visa stamp expiry

---- attach the approval notice and other forms pay the fees and mail it to DOS, but it will take 90-100 days to get your passport back. if Visa stamp expired more than 1 year then you cannot get Visa revalidated in US

----- if you have H1 with new I-94 attached you dont need Visa stamp to work or remain in US Visa stamp is only needed for entry to US
