Visa Revalidations Could End by Sep 30, 2004

Hello everyone,
I read this article at murthy.com:
<< Beginning October 1, 2004, all visas must include a biometric indicator. This means a fingerprint is needed. The revalidation unit is not equipped to fingerprint visa applicants. Therefore, unless some alternative solution can be worked out, such as the acceptance of fingerprinting at USCIS Support Centers, the revalidation unit will not be able to reissue visas on or after September 30, 2004 from within the United States. >>

Please see the full article at:

My current H1 is going to expire begining of Sept 2004. I am now applying for H1 (and my dependent's H4) extension. I am worried that by the time we receive our approvals (it is taking almost 6 months for I-129), we may not be able to revalidate our visas within the US.

I am starting this new thread because as more people now start extending their H1 who are in same situation as I am, we may need each others help and suggestions.

Any suggestions or views are welcome.

Thanks,
Eric S

Hey Eric,

You can file an extension 6 months prior to the expiration of ur previous H-1b. You can always file Premium H-1b Extension and this way your Extension will get there before State Dept stops the Revalidation program.

Good Luck

Thanks

Hi 2hard2getGC,
Thanks for your suggestions. That will help.

But there is another problem, even though I get my H1 extended much earlier, I can sent it for revalidation only 60 days prior to expiration of my current H1 stamp, and that stamp is 2nd week of Sept. That means I can send my passport for revalidation around July 5th.
What I read from the forum, the revalidation process can take from 10 to 12 weeks. That bring my reval stamping right around Sept 30th. But I still think I can get it.

Lets say if for some reason, they don't accept my PP for stamping, can we go to Canada and get it stamped? Is this option still available or do we have to go to our native country to get it stamped?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Thanks,
Eric S
