Visa Revalidation

I entered in to USA on H1B visa on Aug 10, 2001 and it is valid till OCT 30, 2003. But I changed my status to F1 in May 2002. Now again I am approved for my H1B.
My question is Can I Get my passport stamped with a new approval of H1B staying in the United States. As far as I know if we are going from H1B to H1B then we can post our approval and passport such that we can get the new visa stamped within USA. My problem is I am unable to understand what visa do I have right now, I know that i have a H1B visa stamped in my passport and I have no F1 visa stamped in my passport as I never crossed the USA border from the time I am in. Please let me know what category do I belong to and if I can do it staying in USA, What procedures I have to follow.
It would be of great help if someone gives me some information on this.

Validating the Passport

Hi
From H1 you transfered to F1 but no F1 visa in passport, now you back to H1 Visa.

Mean your previous h1 is no more valid.

You got New H1 now.

St Louis service center, re validate passport ( stamp visa) only if you have the same visa in the pp which has valid or expired with in a year.

Check BCIS web site, services, goto revalidation of passport.

Unless you are not going out of US , you can continue to stay in US with valid status.
