visa refused in 2003, want to visit usa again

i know what your saying, and I agree,

I do think that the point of this thread is getting a bit sidetracked.

My questions and curiosity is more about the lack of infomation regarding what people who have been refused under section 214b can do now.

for years, it has always been that people who have been refused a holiday visa under section 214b are still allowed to use the VWP.
it says that on the website now

but the us embassy staff on the visa infomation telephone line have now said that myself and all people who have been refused under section 214b can now no longer visit the US using the VWP. i thought that this would be huge news online and people would be discussing it in other threads.

I wanted to find or hear some comments or experiences about that.

I dont want a visa to have extended stays, i was given bad advise and shouldnt have applied for a visa in the first place,
all i want to do is take trips for less than 2 weeks once every two years or so.

I just want to redeem my status as a legititmate traveller.
