Visa Processing Fees to Change on April 13, 2012

Congats radovic. I'm truely happy for you. This was your time for sure after 13 tries. I can't help but just smile for you. How was the interview???

Thank you ALL!!!

Hi folks, it happened like this:

my wife and I went to the embassy at 8am. We got in and took a seat.

9am they called us by name.
We talked with a non-US embassy personnel who told us the following:
he: give me all the documents you have
me: here are basic documents, but we also have some additional
he: ok. put them here
we: left the documents, and he left somewhere for 20 minutes (all that time we were seating and waiting in a cabin) :)
of course, we were joking about how they are listening to us and wait to see what we are talking among ourselves :)
he got back after 20 minutes, gave us back all documents and said that he didn't need it.
me: (thinking for myself, I was collecting documents for months and now he was giving me everything back)
he took only passports, photos, birth certificates, police record, high school diploma and nothing else. absolutely nothing else.
he: (turned towards me and asked) how long are you playing dv lottery?
me: more than 10 years
he: you see, it was worth being persistent. laughed.
me: well, yes.
he: (turned towards my wife) you had luck! :)
my wife: it seems more like I brought him luck :))
he: well, yes, it could be seen like that too. laugh :)
he: where are you going?
me: hawaii
he: why hawaii?
me: nice weather and we like it there :)
he: ok. are you going to work there? did you search for a job there?
me: my wife will work. she contacted a company there.
he: ok great. now go there and wait.

11am
they called us by name. they took our finger prints. go and take a seat.

11.30am
they called us by name.
she: prepare money, 880$ total. we give 900$. she took it. you will get receipt on the interview. go and wait. no change of 20$ :)
me: ok. thinking for myself: who cares for 20$ change, just to get visas :)

12am
they called us by name
he: do you have US address?
me: yes, just let me see where I put it. I found a paper in bundle of papers and gave him.
he: ok. please take a seat.

12am
a woman who was also dv lottery selectee went into a cabin on interview and stayed there an hour???!!!
she went out after an hour, she got visa.

13pm

they called us by name
she (US citizen): rise your right hand and swear everything written here is true.
we: we swear.
she: who is "name and last name" of person I said will wait for us at the airport?
me: a friend from hawaii
she: when were you in hawaii last time?
me: last year
she: how long have you stayed?
me: 4 months
she: what did you do 4 months?
me: surfed and outdoor activities.
she: ok. asked my wife: what is your occupation?
wife: telecommunication engineer. but not employed at the moment.
she: ok. asked me: what do you do?
me: CEO in a company
she: ok. your visas are approved. everything is fine. please come tomorrow at 3pm to pick up passports with visas.

5pm
I receive a phone call...embassy...oh now, what's wrong???
sorry, but we need to give you 20$ change.
oh, ok, never mind, tomorrow when I come to take passports. ok.

when I come to take passports the next day, two US citizens were watching as I take 20$ :) watching for my reaction :) I said it's fine, never mind. and then these two US citizens went somewhere and I stayed with this man who is not US citizen to take passports.:)
They put it in a special envelope, like they give me some treasure or something. I was thinking: just give it to me so that I can go and celebrate :)

And that's how we got visas in our passports :)) Yeeeeeeee

p.s.: this man who is our guy and works on dv visas is really great guy.
In our embassy there are two people issuing visas, a man and a woman. The man is always in a bad mood, but the woman is ok, but also highly professional and distant. Who comes in her line, can consider himself happy man :)
However, they are working strictly according the law, so you will have the same outcome with both of them. It is just more comfortable talking to her. But this non-US guy is the best, better from both of them :)

p.s.2. while I was waiting for my interview, lots of people applying for B1/B2 visa were rejected, because they were proving connections to US instead proving connections with their home country ???!!! They bring invitation letters and think that that is smart thing to do??!! That is not good thing to do, of course :)

And taht is all, folks, after 14 years I got dv visa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Good 1

Interview:

Got there at 8:00 am, my interview was 8:30 on Wednesday.

Passed through security check, checked my folder with all documents in it, they asked for the interview letter.
Apparently all sealed documents, they take them and check them alone like (Medical Exam, official transcripts...).
I went in the embassy, another security check, then got to a reception. Person there asks me, please show your interview letter. I did, and was handed a number.
I went in a room full of people with 6 windows, and a room at the end. Window 1-5 were for tourist visa, window 6 was for immigrants, and the door was for interviews with u.s consulate.
I was told once I see someone at window 6 to walk there and give them my number.
Waited for about 30 mins, then I get called by my number.

At the window there was two persons, a guy sitting behind a computer typing everything and a lady asking for my documents.
She had a paper with all the requirements, and was asking me for my documents one by one. on that paper I saw one of the requirements proof of funds... So its needed

Every time I hand one paper she checks it out, ticks on her paper received or not.
She asks for my interview letter first, I passed it under the window.
Asked for medicals, passed the envelop received from my Dr.
Passport with 2 photographs...
Birth certificate, here I passed my individual civil record. Never had a birth certificate before, thought it was my individual civil record.

O:This is not the birth certificate, this is your individual civil record.
Me: I believe that's the document that shows where I was born....
O: Yes, but you were supposed to bring birth certificate
Me: I honestly never had one, or was asked to bring it before, so I thought that its the document I brought with me.
O: it's fine, you can bring it another time, should take you like 5 mins, same place where you ordered your civil document, just ask for birth certificate.
Me: No problem, I will do that today.
O: Individual civil record, Police record, family extract. she checks that they were received.
O: Your proof of education please.
Me: I have my high school diploma, and my associate of applied science when I was in the U.S.
O: please pass both diplomas.
Me: I have my grades from high school, and official transcript from my community college.
O: please if you can pass your transcripts from your college, high school grades not needed.
O: Proof of funds please
Me: I gave her an envelop sealed from my best friend in the U.S. Affidavit of support (I-134 notarized), Tax papers, employment letter, bank letter showing all transaction for the past year..
O: Thanks, please take this paper and if you can go to the entrance again, and go to the windows with cashiers. Please pay $440 and bring the receipt back.

Went all the way out, went back in, paid $440.... Went back in to the same window, and gave the lady the receipts.
O: please sit, and wait for your name to be called.

Its around 10:30 now, and so many people inside. around 11:15 I get called to go at the interview room.

Only one window in that room, and with the u.s consulate.

O:good morning:
Me: good morning.
O: How are you doing?
Me: I am doing great, thanks. You?
O: good thanks.
O:raise your right hand and swear everything written here is true.
Me: I did
O: Takes my finger prints, Left hand first, then right hand, then both thumbs same time.
O: so you were in the U.S before, what years.
Me: answered
O: What state you are going ?
Me: answered.
O: why?
Me: I lived there for about 4 years, and have a lot of friends, and the person supporting me lives there.
O: I was asked how do you know this person
ME: He's my best friend from when I was studying in the U.S
O: What kind of support, is he going to be willing to provide
ME: My friend will be providing room/Board, and will help me with transportation to go do my job interviews.
O: Do you work now?
ME: Yes, Telecom
O: So you will be working in telecom/ IT in the U.S
ME: Yes, I already have some target job in my mind, when I get in the U.S I will be applying to those jobs.
O: Where did you find those jobs
ME: Monsters.com , I did chose the state where I will be living at my friend's house. (I had printouts of those companies, proving that they are hiring)
O: good, good... Please bring the missing documents any Monday, Wednesday Friday between 2-3 pm with your passport so we can continue processing your visa. and handed me the paper below

It was Wednesday, and Friday is a holiday for eastern so is Monday.. I went straight brought the birth certificate, went and translated it, then went back to the embassy to hand my passport and my document. They took my phone number, and said they will call me once ready.
