Visa pictures -- need urgent help!

Hi all,

I live in the US and have been frantically calling photograph studios for my visa pictures.

The immigrant visa photo requirements plainly state that instant type photographs or digital quality photographs are not acceptable and that a film must be used and then processed in a standard fashion.

I could not find a single studio that can meet this requirement--there are many who do not use a digital camera, but these all use a poloroid, which is an instant type camera.

I would appreciate very much if someone can recommend a studio for visa pictures in the Tristate area...

I just talked to another studio--they said they could take a picture using a regular camera, develop the film and the crop the picture so that it's 2 by 2. I am, however, not sure this is what the KCC wants--can anyone confirm whether or not polaroid pictures would be OK?

Why dont you just go to Walgreens and let them take two passport photos for 7.99, they have exactly the size you need.

Because Walgreens like CVS uses a digital camera for those passport pictures, or so I thought?

Thanks all, I was just worried because the ninth item on the photo info sheet says "instant type photographs or digital quality photographs are not acceptable".

A cheaper alternative: take a picture with a regular digital camera, upload the file to the free online service www.epassportphoto.com, save the new image (you have a choice of sizes, and you are getting six photos on a standard 4x6 paper... well, five to be exact - one spot is taken by the ad). Then go to any Walmart-type place with a photo printing machine, and get you photos for about 3 cents a piece. All you need to do, is cut the photo paper nicely :)

Dunavis, I have had all my pictures for US visas (3 in total) taken with digital cameras at stores like Walgreens and have never had a problem at all. I think the requirement that "digital quality photographs are not acceptable" means that your picture shouldn't look pixelated or printed with lower end equipment.

thanks madforplaid, that's reassuring, I thought they were being extra strict for DV winners or something!
