Visa Number?

On one of the USCIS forms, it asks for the Non-Immigrant Visa Number. I looked at my friend's F1 visa and saw no "visa number". There was a number that was identified as a Control Number in the upper right corner area. And the was a red number printed near the lower right corner. But nothing that said that this is THE Visa Number. So where does one look? :confused:

I believe the red number printed near the lower right corner is the visa number. The Control Number is surely not the one.
