I am a canadian citizen working in US on TN-1 visa. And thinking about starting a company. I was wondering if someone can point me to the right direction.
Anyone can start a company in the USA but unless you have visa with work autho you cannot even run it
To get green card for investment must be either 500,000 ( conditions and area of business apply) or 1,000,000 in any area employing 10 +
Or you could purchase a busines E visa subject to visa approval but this normally does not convert to green card although I have heard of one case that the owner of company got his own company to sponser him for I 140 then green card, and it worked
Being a Canadian you could open your own business in the U.S. and apply for an E-2 visa as a Treaty Investor. You should read up on the issue a little to find out if you have the substantial funds and abililty to do so. I'm not sure which Consular post you would apply to, but you can find information on applying in Toronto here: http://www.usconsulatetoronto.ca/content/visas/E-28_TI.pdf.
