Visa for elderly parents

Hi:

I want to have my aged parents over in September of 2009 for about 2 months. My dad's 80 and my mom's 75. Their visitors visa expire in June 2009. So they will have to reapply again and interview at the consulate. I have heard that older persons have difficulty in obtaining visas because they are suspected of becoming liabilities to the US government mainly due to health issues and medical expenses. Will age be a factor in obtaining the visa?
What do I need to do to prove that I will be responsible for any of their medical expenses? Do I need to purchase insurance for them before they go for the interview so that they can present it during the time of the interview? I have a GC and am financially capable of sponsoring them.

Thanks for your help.

While it is true that you may have to prove that they would not become a financial liability, mainly because of their age, a great supporting fact that you have is that they proved that they do not have any immigrant intent. This is based on the fact that they travelled on a visitor trip long ago.

It may be helpful if you can attach proof of medical insurance.

I know of many cases like this one personally and they did not had any issues. So, good luck.

Could you please explain the "citizenship" part? They are Indians and will apply either from New Delhi or Kolkata.

Thanks.

Unfortunately consuls tend to stereotype applicants. Depending on their citizenship, they may be more guilty than others. Consuls base these impressions on statistics of over stayers, visa abusers, etc.
