visa extension doubts

move along

Registered Users (C)
after considering pros and cons of both, i have decided to go ahead and apply for a one month extension of b1.
I had some doubts and will be grateful if you can answer me,

1. the instruction manual for the form on uscis clearly says that send the original or photocopy of i 94. so should i go ahead and send photocopy.
2. i read on one of the forums that the ticket ( with return date upto extension period requested) should be sent. So should i postpone my ticket before extension is approved?? or should i just send my original ticket showing intent to leave in case of denial?
3. it is not very clear on my i 94 whether it is b1 or b2. what should i do?
4. is it true that denials come through pretty quickly and approvals take a longer time.

thanks for reading

A1: People usually send a copy only
A2: The ticket date really is not that important. Your justification to request an extension should have merit.
A3: Makes no difference
A4: I seriously doubt that is the case

thank you for the quick and informative reply :)

I am enclosing the following documents with my form. Please tell me if they are enough.
I am a doctor who needs a months extension for interviews to secure a residency position in a hospital in the USA.

1. photocopy of I94
2. Photocopy of passport and visa
3. photocopy of ticket ( with new dates )
4. affidavit of support from uncle( from USA).
5. parents bank statement/ sponsor letter ( from home country).
6. Photocopy of USMLE score reports ( united states medical licensing exam)
7. interview confirmation from one of the hospitals.

Also, is it better if i say i am being supported by both sources ( parents and uncle) or only one. In reality, I am being helped by both.

thanks for all the help

To be honest, number of financial sources makes no difference. They key is the adjudicator at the service center who will open your I-539. If he/she reckons you should leave the US and return a few days before the actual interview, he/she will deny the extension. If he/she considers your request justifiable, it will be approved.
