Visa extension denial questions

I plan to apply for Visa extension for my MIL. Her I-94 expires on Nov 8'th. I'm in CA and will apply for the extension around next week (6 weeks before her I-94 expires). I have the following questions around the process, can someone please share your views:

1. She leaves on Nov 1'st as we do not hear anything back from INS. Sometime later we get a letter saying her visa extension is rejected. Does this void the multiple entry visa ? Even if she leaves on her original return date, does a rejection of extension automatically void her multiple entry too?

2. Her extension is denied before Nov 8'th (original I-94 expiry date), does this mean she has to leave before Nov 8th or does her original I-94 still hold value?

3. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back from INS.

Appreciate your time.

Thanks,

1.- No, No. For as long as she leaves before the original I-94 expiration date.

2.- I-94 date still hold value.

3.- Too long. 4-6 months.

Save your money unless this is an emergency and you have plenty of evidence, extensions can ruin a visa and future visits to the USA.

Thanks for the response. Is there any thread where people are discussing/updating the processing time.?

Anila.
