Visa Bulletin for March 2016

Funny.

OC is current to 950 (with max case number of 959)
and EU is current to 24500 with a max case number 24517.

So - both regions are pretty much current, except for 9 cases in OC and 10 cases in EU.

The discussion went crazy but I would like to get some clarification please.
When you say the max case number for EU is 24517, does that mean that they are not going to proceed any other cases from EU after this quota?
How do you know that, where did you get this number? Please advise.
My CN is current in March. Does that ensure that it will be proceed? Should I send my application now or wait until the first day of March?

Thanks a lot,
Jerome

It means there are no cases above that number, the EU numbering ends at 24517. This comes from the CEAC data.

It does NOT mean that a late submission (such as you) will not be processed. So - you can send it now or in March - whatever suits you.

ok thanks for your reply. effectively I saw your post from another forum.
WRT applying before the month to be current, I see this note on the excel AOS package saying that the application can be rejected if posted before the current month. What is the risk and what are the pros finally what would be your advise. I have all the documents ready.
Thanks, Jerome

So you are AoS. Since less than 5% of cases are AoS it is important you point that out when you ask questions as your process is different (and I don't remember every case).

So - for AoS. You were able to file early - as soon as the VB that announced your number was current was released. That is described in their policy memorandum here:
https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Laws/Memoranda/2013/August/DV-Related I-485 Applications .pdf

Also - you must make sure you have read Moms spreadsheet that is linked from the first post of the AoS thread. It has information about what should be in your I-485 package and so on.

Lastly, risks and pros. Risk is that it can occasionally be rejected (so you have to re-file). It's wise to include the policy memo to explain why you are filing early. The pro is that you start the process earlier.

That is a very sharp answer! Thanks a lot Britsimon. I will therefore apply asap and attached the memoranda. I see the document is from 2013. how to know if it is the latest version?

Other cases (including my own) have been relying on this memo by filing early for quite some time. Cases are being accepted on this basis, so the policy is still in place. It actually has been the policy for longer, the memo simply clarified/confirmed it. Obviously, you can choose to wait and file in your current month. Your choice.

Thanks a lot for your insight, this forum is extremely helpful.
I am going to send my application asap.
