How long we have to wait to get the pd to become current. My pd is sept 2002......

Is any one going to call Consulate to see if we have interviews or not,
what the heck a try does not hurt to see if they have a date against our case number ?

/S

sada,

How do we know current PD is Jan'2002?

My PD is Nov 01, 2001. So I should be OK to get January interview?

I was told PD is the date when we applied labour. Is n't it true?

Any info on this is greatly appreciated.

Yes you are right that you'd be OK if your PD is the Listed date Or Prior. And the PD is the date you file for your labor certification. But thats a good question you asked

r_sada ... where did you get this date from ? If its true , I'm also struck mine is Nov2002.

Sada,
how did you manage to go from LC to consulate in under two years? that's some deft maneuvering. My pd is nov 2002.

I'm pessimistic. Here's why.

In April 2001 there was a flood of applications (something like a baby boom, many tens of thousands if not > 100000) because of some one time waiver to illegals. That held up labor cert for > 2 years. In states like New york, new jersey and connecticut with heavy immigrant populations, labor cert was struck in april 2001 for years, till very recently. Eventually the backlog cleared and started moving. Now many of those people have come to I-485/CP stage and are ahead of us in line. They will hold up the priority dates for 3 years or more. I expect the dates to move back as they get older apps in future.

emailraja,
true, Section 245(i) brought a flood of applications in april 2001, i was a victim of that queue as well, i waited for 2 1/2 years in labor queue in a large company , got tired and quit and started the process from scratch in Aug 2003,labor/140 and case review completed on Oct 5th 2004.
I was at the gate for the interview and guess was stopped (not sure a taint bit of hope ;) )

Now the flood of folks who crowded the Labor system were mostly EB3 -- Other workers category (who bush had approved to apply for GC to obtain legal status from illegal status)
we fall under the EB3 Skilled Labor category and thats why i feel we have a good chance in July 2005.

extract from bulletin for whats under third

Third: Skilled Workers, Professionals, and Other Workers: 28.6% of the worldwide level, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences, not more than 10,000 of which to "Other Workers".

Also in the table you can see that there is "other workers" under neath E3.
the 245(i) benefitted most of them under that category as far as i know.

According to Murthy.com's Newsflash "The DOS has indicated that further retrogression may be possible in future months" . Where is this indication in the Visa Bulletin?

Sandeep,
Murthy is saying that for the reason I mentioned in the post above. here it is.

That means we have to wait for some more time???? :(

Chennai website is updated for January website
Its shame that they have only like 10-15 Employment visas to be issued for the whole month
Such is the effect of PD.

Sada that means we will not have any hope for next couple of months  our cases will sit in consulate

I really hoped that your interview would be scheduled for Jan 2005. But hang on buddy. We will wait. you will enjoy the July Weather. My attorny told me that whenever the PD cutoff approach your PD. They send you the interview even when during the prior month too based on the Visa Bulletin for next month. So you will get the interview the same month when your PD becomes current.
Your predictions are good. Trust those.
Good luck

Shusterman has put on his website that the backlogged categories will not move forward untill April according to the State Department
