Visa bill

I understand that when I-130 gets approved (counselor processing, US citizen, IR category) from the appropriate service center you get a visa bill which is $380 + $70 for finger printing. Two questions ...

1) How long does it generally take after submitting the I-130 application before you get the visa bill?

2) Do they take personal checks and whom are they made out to?

Thanks in advance!

HHmmmm!

I did not know thats how it worked??!!

I submitted all my forms together for the petition, travel doc, ead, and gc.
so, i have paid all the application fee initially.

Once I-130 is approved USCIS will mail you an approval notice. The notice will explain that your file is being sent to National Visa Center(NVC). Once the file is at NVC they will assign a file number to it and if the Visa is available immediately, which I guess is available in your case as you applied for an immediate relative assuming , NVC will send you a letter asking for the required fees, an affidavit of support etc. Depending on where you live in USA and which service center either california or vermont gets your file once I-130 is submitted, it may take anywhere from 6 to 10 months for the approval . Here is link which explains a little about NVC

You can also check the processing times for I-130 at this website. I think they do take the personal checks.

Hi:

I suspect the OP is doing consular processing and you are doing AOS --- two very different processes.

Yes, counselor processing scenario.

Any thoughts on ...

1) How long does it generally take to get visa fee bill after submitting the I-130 application?

2) Do they take personal checks and whom are they made out to? Department of State of Department of Homeland security?

Just need to plan ahead.
