Visa approved...passport delayed

Went to chennai consulate on 7th Nov. Visa was approved but have not received the passport so far. Called chennai consulate today and they said the visa has stamp has not been printed due to pending clearance from Washington. They could not give me an estimate on how long this will take.

This is not my first H1 but 7th year extension. I've been working for the same employer from day one.

Wondering why there was no problem when I went for previous stamping the last one was on 7Jan05.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you get back your passport?

I had visa interview on Nov 14th and VO said visa is approved. But haven't received my passport until today. (7 days). Called the consulate and they said it is still under processing. Did you get your passport back?

Hi I have a similar case with yours, where I'm stuck in Canada due to the delay in my L-1 visa extension. I attended the visa interview on 11/16 and the consulate said it needs additional clearance in Washington for 2-4 weeks. Until today, I have not heard anything from them.

Have you received your visa ? how long it takes the clearance, since you submitted your application?
