Hi,
I was at New Delhi US Consulate on august 16th for a petition to change my status from F1 to H1. I was asked to come back on 19th or 20th of august with some more documents of my company. I went back on 20th and submitted them. I was asked to come back that same afternoon at 3.30 pm. I went back and was told that the company that i was working for is only hiring people on H1's and had no one who was local US born citizen. I was told that my application would be sent to Department of Homeland Security to query the details of my company and when they hear anything back from DHS i would be informed about that. I was given a yellow sheet which stated that my application requires further more research and i would be informed when the administrative formalities are completed by the consulate. The letter does not state that the query is on my company. They gave all my documents back and just kept my application forms.
Since the whole procedure would take months (so i am told) I am planning to apply for a new H1 from another company and try at chennai consulate. But I am not sure if i can do that because my petition at new delhi is pending.
Can I go for stamping on my new H1? Could any one please suggest me about any other alternatives? If any of you know anyone who has been through similar process, could you please provide me with the contact details so I can findout what the next steps to follow would be?
