I wanted to thank you for your response. I have finished 5 years of NIW with no gaps or absence leaves. I have an approved I 140 and wanted to pursue fellowship. Hadron and POSMD have been very helpful in this forum.
I also wanted to thank you for your input.

Make sure you clear your plans with a good immigration attorney, but otherwise good luck with your fellowship.
 
Glad I could be of help.I learnt so much from these forums and have to give it back atleast in some way.
Wish you luck and I second hadron's advice. Check with an immigration attorney before doing it.
