Some of you may not know but today is a federal holiday in the USA - Veterans day. It is celebrated on the 11th day of the 11th month - which was the end of hostilities in World War I (Armistice day). Americans take this day to honour veterans who are people that have completed armed service for their country. Given that we all have a common interest to move to the USA it would be right to take a moment to think of those men and women who serve in Americas military but also a moment for all the others that serve in other militaries around the world. Remember, you may not agree with the tasks they are set but there is no doubt that we should honour and respect those that are willing to serve their country in this way.
Today is also Remembrance Day for those in Commonwealth countries. It is the day when we think of our war dead (which is celebrated as Memorial day in the USA). Today I was at the gym and was pleased that the management of the gym chose to observe the 2 minute silence that is observed at the 11th hour, or the 11th day of the 11th month. Again, regardless of whether you agree or not with the wars that have been fought where service men and women have given their lives, it is important to pay them their moment of respect.
I hope you all have a healthy and peaceful day....
