Very Very Urgent Please Help !!!!!! In Deep Trouble

We have a very strange and urgent problem. My parents went for the B1 visa interview last week and the officer approved them for a visa.

The applied through TT Services agency. Yesterday they got the passports back. In my Dad's passport he had the 10 year visa sticker. But in my mother's passport there was a visa sticker for some other gentleman.

Someone at the US consulate made a mistake by putting the wrong person's visa in mother's passport and probably vice versa.

What can my parents do in this situation. All the tickets and bookings are ready but now the Consulate has done this mistake.

Any advice at this point would really help me a lot. Please Guru's or Mr Khanna give me some advice on how to tackle this situation.

Regards to All !!

I think you should have your parents call TT Services and then the Consulate office. If I remember correctly, the Consulate office mails out a "verification checklist" and contact information in case of typos or mistakes on the visas. Most likely, they will just ask for your mother's passport via mail so they can make corrections.

Hope this helps.

Actually my dad spoke to TT services agent over the phone. They said that we would need to go back to consuate on Tuesday and report it over there. The consulate would then take care of this hopefully in just the same day.

THe issue I am most concerned is about the sticker of this other person on my mother's passport. How will the consulate remove it or cancel it. Otherwise my mom may be looked upon suspiciously at the port of entry here. They have anyway become so paranoid about everything after Sep 11th.

Due to no fault of her own since this is the consulate's mistake but how will my parents prove it here at the port of entry.

My guess is that the consulate would put a "cancelled without prejudice" stamp on the visa and issue a new one. I dont think there is anything to worry about as she can always explain that it was the consulate that incorrectly put the visa on her passport.

One question: It seems that many visitor visas are granted for only a few months. I would like to know your parents background and how they got a 10 year visa. Did they go for drop box or interview?

My parents went for an interview and it took the officer just 5 minutes to make the decision. My father did show them proof about the new house which he has built in last couple of years.

In my case we didnt even have the BC original. Just the photocopy which they never checked. All the checked was the Affidavit of Support and my Employment letter. Never looked once at my 485 application documents at all.

My parents anyway are not interested to stay her longer than 1 month so maybe that helped. I guess this is is more a matter of luck. I am thankful to God that both my parents got it. Hopefully this situation about my mother's visa will get resolved soon.

I will post details once I know of them.

THanks !!

URGENT..PLSS HELP..correction in the first name in the visa

URGENT..PLSS HELP..correction in the first name in the visa

Hi Puneet

Thanks for the valuable service

Pls. help...my mom appeared for a personal interview last week & got back her passport with 5yrs. visa stamped today....but strange!! we found that her first name had a letter missed out....what should we do? whom should we contact TT Services or Chennai Consulate? if so what are the contact nos. ?

My question is if we go in for any correction is their any chance that the officer might reduce the visa period? is traveling with this problem ie. a letter left out in her first name will impose any serious issue in POE !!! pls. help as i have booked flight tickets for the first week of oct....did any face this type of probs??!!!!:rollin:rolleyes

ANY INPUTS WILL BE SO HELPFUL....PLSSSS

Thanks in advance.

Hi Selvaganesh.
One thing I can tell for certain is that they will NOT reduce the visa period. So dont be concerned there. You should contact TT Services and also go the the Chenai consulate to explain your situation to them
Here is my mom's story:

She went to Delhi consulate on Tuesday. They let her enter but after that she could not talk to the consular officer directly. She had to talk to one of the desi guys working at the info helpdesk. That guy was very rude and he told her that there is no guarante when my mom will get her passport back.

When my mom told him that she had come all the way from Chandigarh to Delhi , he did not show any compassion. He just gave her a slip and said that if she knows anyone in Delhi, he/she can collect the passport on her behalf.

Thankfully she was able to get her passport back in 2 days time and my uncle collected it. But she told me that there was very big line there due to the various errors made on the visa sticker for so many people. In some cases the name was spelled wrong. In others the sex was wrong and so forth. So you should
not be concerned at all.

You can also call TT Services but they will just tell you to go directly to the Consulate.

Hope this helps !!

puneet pls. help me with the foll. info.

HI PUNEET

THANKS FOR UR IMMEDIATE REPLY.

I CALLED UP TT SERVICES THEY ASKED ME TO FILL UP A FORM FOR CORRECTION & SUBMIT IT WITH THE PASSPORT...NOW HERE IS MY DOUBT...HAVE I GOTTO TO GO TO TT SERVICES & SUBMIT THE FORM OR SHOULD I GOTTO THE CONSULATE IN CHENNAI....!!!

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Maybe TT Services in Chennai is more efficient then their branch in New Delhi. My suggestion would be to follow their instructions as this form might be needed at the consulate for correction.

In my mother's case TT Services never told her to fill any form. They just told her to go directly to consulate.

Either ways this whole process at most will take you just 2-3 days.

Regards
Puneet

is this a good logic

hi puneet & sep13 & other gurus

thanks a lot puneet & sep13th

i enquired certain other friends who said that a single letter missing in the first name will not have any implications in PORT OF ENTRY...as when they scan in POE "the database will show up correctly".....they also said one of thier sis. who entered in H4 had 'Male' in sex option that having 'Female'....but she wasn't put any question....

they also said since photo is also thier on the visa it will not impose any problem in PORT OF ENTRY.....so they asked me not to opt for any changes....

guys pls. help me in this regard....does what my friends say have any logic....am extreemlyyyyyyy confused and am going mad.....plssssss any input will be very valuable.....

thanks in advance

Don't you think the system is automated?

selvaganesh

This is just my thought.Don't you think name on visa stamp is
from what is there in the database?
I mean to say like here in US you go for Driver's license and they
enter your info at one place and the same is used at the end to
print the card.At least I think that they don't type info again 2nd
time for visa stamp on the passport.

I would recommend to get this thing fixed if your mom don't have
urgent travel plans.

Sept13

I will also recommend same like Sep 13. Even if this takes a week it is bette to resolve the issue then face a problem here.

BTW do you or any of the gurus know of any good medical insurance companies here in the US for my parents??

Need Info !!

puneet_gcard,
Did your mother had problem at port of entry ????
I have exactly same situation i.e .Initially some ones visa is printed on my passport then they corrected it.

Please let me know...

Thanks
Kumar

Name Correction on B1 Visa Stamping

Hi All,

My mom got her B1 visa recently and i have booked her flight ticket on 24th Oct. We realized her last name is mis-spelled on VISA (got SURA instead of SOORA). Actually the problem started with the passport itself. Her last name was incorrect (SURA) in the passport and when we corrected it to SOORA, they just put an observation in one of the pages of her passport. The cover page still has incorrect last name, i think that made consulate put SURA (incorrect) as last name on visa.

Would that be a problem while coming here? Will they compare my last name and hers? If they just check her passport that would be OK unless they check the observation made inside or my visa copies. Please suggest me as i can't even use TT services now as its only a week time now.

thanks,
Praveen

If SURA is somewhere in the passport and US visa carries SURA, no problem at POE.

thanks,
