I am currently on H4 visa.I came to US in 2001 June.I used up 4yrs 3months of my H visa[went to home country for only 3 wks in that time]. I have already finished all my usmle exams 1,2 and 3. I am planning to get into residency next year 2005 june. I will have only one yr of my H visa left.My husband applied for Gc in 2004 june Non RIR EB3 category and our application is in Dallas back log center. After this recent retrogression I have no hopes of getting our EAD anytime soon.
What do you think is the best option for me.
1. Straight away take J1 and forget about H1.
2.Enter residency on H1 and if we dont get EAD then jump to J1.
3.Any way of applying for my GC once I enter residency in 2005.
4.DO you think of any other option which I am not aware of.
Any advice please...

I suggest you try to find a program which wil sponsor you on an H. Hopefully, in the 1 year you have left on H, you may get EAD via your hubby. Although the chances appear bleak, you never know. If by the end of your 1 year, you still dont have EAD, THEN think about J. Right now, taking residency on H, even for short term is better than to get J
. Once you do 1 year of residency, even if you have a break after it, you will be able to get another PGY2 position if you are willing to relocate.
