It came to me mind call the USCIS, so I did and:

I spoke with one of their representatives, I asked her " I received my green card based on asylum ( AS8 ), what documents do I need to travel abroad.? Can I visit my COP ?" . She said to me " You are no longer an asylee, as a Permanent Resident what you need to travel is your GC and NP and you may visit your COP as much as you want ".

We not to record the call and have it for any situation.

It is increible how this people dont set their rules if they really want us NOT to travel to COP, but how come a government agency dont know what they says.

Please go ahead and call them and ask them the same thing , you will see what they will tell you.

By the way, it came to my mind as well, do I need to get marry with a U.S citizen and re-get a green card with different classification and Use that one to visit COP and the other one for when not. SO stupid right..... No sense at all.

I always think of those representatives you talked to when you call the 1800 number as " ROBOTS" seriously i think they have been programmed to read to you the message you get when you check your status online. You can try to stop them from reading it so that you can ask important questions but they will read it anyways, they want to finish quickly so they can get off the phone.
as for permitting you to go to COP as a green card holder they are absolutely WRONG.

I went through the same...

They haven't changed a bit... I went through the same and here is my story with these yahoos from last year. Thank God I don't have to deal these idiots anymore. Here it goes....
Today, I decided to call USCIS to find out what in the Pete's name going on in there.
First try, I kept selecting options and it took me to a message where they said that they are way too busy (sitting on their lazy asses) and that I should call on so and so day between so and so time. They thought they might get rid of me that way but uh uh. I redialed again and this time selected different options (1 for english and then 2, 2 and 2). After waiting for 44 minutes I finally got someone to talk to me who probably was bored just sitting or was taking a break from her nap.
Anyway, here is how it went,
P.M. I have sent my response to the RFI for my I-485 which was received by USCIS on 07/08/05. There were few other people I know who sent RFIs with the similar dates that I know and they have received I-797C. I'm wondering if it has something to do with my old address that I had on my I-485 when I filed it. Did my notice go there (I was really playing dumb here )
Customer Service Lady (CSL) What kind of application is it? is based on asylum, employment or family based?
P.M. Asylum.
Do you have your receipt number?
P.M. Yes, it is LIN0114050***
CSL. Did you send AR-11?
P.M. Yes, Ma'am.
CSL. Did you receive confirmation from USCIS of address update?
P.M. Yes, Ma'am.
CSL. Well, then address change is really not an issue here is it? I thought in mind (No Bitc*, I just used this excuse to get through) No, I didn't tell her that.
P.M. So could you please tell me when will I get this notice?
CSL. There are different officers working on different cases. The officer who is working on your case might be a really lazy SOB and didn't get to make a decision. Well, she skipped lazy SOB part . She told me to give them 90 days and check after 09/08/05 if I still don't hear anything by then. Then they can send an inquiry to Nebraska. Your FBI check might be pending.
P.M. No I chacked with FBI back in December and they told me that my FP results were sent back to USCIS on 08/18/04. The very next day.
P.M. OK then I guess I'll just have to wait and see then.
CSL. Yes, Is there anything I can do for you today?
P.M. Yeah, please bend over. Well, she didn't comply to that either Or she might have but I couldn't see that over the phone. :D :p ;)

Do not rely on the customer service line--especially for a relatively difficult issue such as this.

Retain an attorney to request an advisory opinion from top level USCIS officials.
