Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could provide on some insights on how the INs does the verificatin of the documents that you provide from India. This is with respect to tthe marriage certificate, birth certificate, work exp, educational qualifications etc.

Do they do it within the same brancj or employ another agency for the purpose. How much time we have to prove our case if at all there is a querey.

Please provide with your experience.

Thanks.

Normally, they don't. But everything you submit or say can be verified.
One good thing about this country is that they appear to trust people. Take IRS for example, you can take any deductions...such as donations etc. they don't ask you to attach proof (every other country requires that...) with the return. They verify only few cases and if they catch the penalties are big.

Some time back INS used to send papers (specially degrees certificates) to consulates for further verification. This started when people from a particular state started pouring in using counterfeit degrees...

The key is : don't submit "bad documents". If they find out couple of such cases, they will require a document verification for everybody and every INS petition will take foreever.
