Vawa help!

My mother filed VAWA in 2006 as an abused spouse of a USC. It was approved in 2007 and all the processing is complete at the NVC and we have our interview date scheduled already. My question is we both entered on a visit visa and overstayed by more than a decade. Does the approval of VAWA mean that this overstay has been excused and we don't need to worry about this on the interview day? Is there some kind of waiver we were supposed to file? We presently do not reside in the US. I have been out now for 6 years and she has been out for eight. Any productive answers are welcome. Please no replies from the anti-VAWA warriors. ;)

To get VAWA greencard you must show the Applicant must show that they currently reside in the United States or If not, they must show that the abuser works for the US government, or is a member of the US military, and subjected them to domestic violence in the United States.
VAWA visas are not subject the 3/10 years for illegal presence so that should not be a problem for you. Good Luck
