Validity of Visitor Documents

Hi,

How long are the Documents of the Sponsor & the Visitor valid?
My In-Laws went for Visa in December and were rejected the Visa.

Can they go again in May with the same documents with new DS-156,157

If the answer is no what are the papers which should be redone?

If they were rejected under 214(b), I believe the consul needed just the DS-156 to make up his/her mind. Whatever documents you sent earlier, most probably did not even come into the equation.
