After landing in Canada, if I leave the country for a period of 2 years, will I loose my residency? I have to land by mid 04 and due to my kids education I would like to continue in India atleast till mid 06. Are there any exclusion/exemptions? Will I have to take special permission to keep my PR valid during my absence?

Thanks

1 When you land you should provide address of your Friend/relative IN Canada for the PR card, they will mail your PR cards on given address (Canada address) once your relative/friend receives them on Canada address he/she can send you the PR cards in India by FedEx or any reliable registered mail, you keep these PR cards with you as you will need the PR card after 31 December to come back to Canada. At the time of landing apply for all family members PR card, they will take the photographs and keep the complete address of your relative/friend in Canada. Ask them if the photographs they have clicked are OK for PR card.
2 Once you land then go to HRDC office and apply for your SIN Card, they will mail your SIN card in 2-3 weeks time on Canada address (your friend can mail SIN cards to you when he receives)
3 From your Landing date you can stay out of Canada for 3 years in any 5 years, so if you plan to stay out of Canada for 2 years after landing you are OK and will not loose your PR status.
