Validity of Labor Certification

I have my labor certification approved in May 2001, but then I changed my employer. But now I want to get back to my previous employer. He told me that my approved labor is still there and he didnt use it for anyone. I wuz wondering about its validity, i.e how long is it valid from the date of it\'s approval.
