validating green card on US transit stop through to Canada (for holiday in Canada)

We got our green cards and have til Aug 18 to validate.

I'm the primary holder and will be flying from Australia to Canada in early August. I stop in LAX for couple hours, then fly to Denver for 4 hours, then finally arrive in Toronto. It's for a 2 week holiday only. We plan to move to the US later in the year. My husband and children will be flying into LAX a week later, for a week's holiday before flying back to Australia.

My question is: should that cause any issues for me in seeking to validate my green card on a transit stop in the USA on route to Canada. Also, should it be an issue that I am traveling without my husband and kids (they are secondary DV holders)?

Thank you.

You, as the principal, MUST either precede or accompany your dependent family members, that is true. You are really asking a logistical question and should do yourself a favor and ask it at the embassy/consulate nearest you. Even if USCIS does not have a local office they will have a presence in the embassy/consulate. Such a logistical question is really in the realm of CBP but you may have to settle for help from USCIS or even DoS.

The U.S. gov't has offices in:
• Australia: Canberra
• Australia: Melbourne
• Australia: Perth
• Australia: Sydney

Good luck!
