Valid visa status before applying for 485?

Currently, I'm on H1B visa and my wife has yet to apply for her H4 visa. Can I apply I485 for me and my wife even though my wife does not have valid H4 visa?

You can apply for an I-485, but your wife cannot unless she is in the US.
